BJ Ward came to Marshall in December and again in March to do a Writers in Residence with our 2nd graders. An accomplished poet, Mr. Ward's poetry has been featured on NPR, New Jersey Network's "State of the Arts" as well as in national publications, including the New York Times.
Marshall second graders had two fun-filled workshops that helped participants discover and use language. The students were each given new nicknames, went on a discovery tour near their classroom and learned how to write poetry. By the end of the workshop, each student has their own poem that they shared with the class. This is always a huge hit with our teachers and students and we looking forward to having Mr. Ward back next year.
