Groove On Grove

Did you know that thanks to funds from the PTA, your children get to listen to some cool jams during lunch? The Groove On Grove series started last year as a way to bring a variety of musicians in to play for the children during their lunch. This means the children get great exposure to music and so far they have loved it!

Mr. K on Conga
On December 3rs, Mr. Karade (known as “Mr. K”) played the congas for the Marshall School students for Groove On Grove during the students’ lunch period. In addition to being a passionate percussionist, Mr. K is the owner/operator of Athletic Arts Academy, a Gymnastics School in Orange, and a professor at Essex County Community College where he teaches English. Jada Fowlkes, a parent at Marshall School, attends Athletic Arts Academy and asked Mr. K to play. He agreed to come back again in the spring. The kids loved the music.

On December 18th, Cornell McGee, a professional trombonist and friends (which included a drummer, guitarist and vocalist) played holiday music for the Marshall School students during Groove On Grove. Mr. McGee plays with several local bands at various venues throughout the tri-state area.
